Going beyond the classroom.
experiential learning is dedicated to bridging the gap between classroom knowledge and real-world experiences. through this framework, our students combine their classroom education with outdoor adventures, community service, international trips, sustainability initiatives, and other unique opportunities to create a broad assembly of learning techniques. our teachers link course content with real-time events to help students contribute to a better world through hands-on, authentic learning.
we build essential skills in critical thinking, creativity, innovation, collaboration, leadership, adaptability, communication, and curiosity. guided by our project-based learning approach, wasatch academy teaches students to forge meaningful connections with the community and develop respect for the environment while learning how the two are interconnected.
Explore through Experiential Immersions.
雷速体育都是在哪投注的in the spring of 2018, wasatch academy introduced a new element to our robust project-based curriculum: mini-courses called experiential immersions (eis). spearheaded by dr. j. dianne brederson, assistant head of school for academics, and dr. joel barnes, director of experiential education and sustainability, eis encourage students to explore beyond their comfort zones and experience intensive learning outside the classroom.
eis are 5-day mini-courses providing students with opportunities to learn outside of a traditional classroom setting. engaging in interdisciplinary and project-based experiential learning, our students build valuable life skills and enhance their classroom environment with field trips, guest speakers, and hands-on activities. our students investigate new areas of interest while learning within small communities comprised of peers with diverse academic passions and faculty from different departments.
students began the second week of school immersed in the ei program, which serves as a springboard for the rest of the academic year as they embrace the experiential, interdisciplinary, project-based, and academically rich learning of the “wasatch way.”
